Lucas Parry is an Australian born songwriter, worship leader, pastor and international speaker whose passion for music, mission and global justice has been describes as “simply contagious!” Lucas began his musical career at a young age after learning the guitar and singing in competitions across Sydney. After some of his early songs went on to have international success Lucas was hooked on music and its power to connect with people. He continued singing, leading worship at churches and camps, and traveling across Australia. In 2004 Lucas moved to Nashville TN to continue his career and there recorded his first full-length CD called “Made To Fly” with Grammy nominated, Dove Award winning producer/mix engineer Ainslie Grosser. Multiple songs from this CD broke the Australian Christian music top 20 and was picked up by many radio stations across the US. Its release in 2004 was marked by stellar reviews from Christian magazines and online publishers around the world.
On Lucas’ sophomore musical release, ‘Alive’, he teamed up with Grammy and Dove Award winning producer Dave Wyatt to combine his eclectic musical tastes to create a CD filled with energy which oozes passion for God. “I wanted to create an album that reflected my personal journey over the last three years. God has been revealing to me what was truly important in life… people. The core of everything we do should be to love God and to love people”. Along this journey, Lucas penned the songs found on Alive; “It’s my prayer that through these songs, people might be encouraged and inspired to connect with God in a fresh, dynamic new way.” ’Alive’ was released in 2008 and the albums first single, “Something Beautiful” has been played all over the radio in Australia, New Zealand and the United States and met with critical acclaim. Some of Lucas’ other music has been recorded by other worship leaders and country artists and his music has also appeared on TV shows like “Twenty Six Miles”.
Lucas’ intense passion for global justice and missions began early growing up in Australia’s largest mission giving and sending church. Today this passion has taken him to over twenty-five different nations spanning five continents on various types of aid, mission and outreach. Deep into the Kalahari dessert of Botswana, high up the steeped slopes of the Himalayan mountains in Nepal and through the bustling city streets of Calcutta, India. Lucas has lead worship at stadiums, served on medical missions to the sick and poor, aided at refuge camps, trained pastors and church leaders and shared the Gospel to countless. After graduating university in Australia with a degree in education, he traveled to India to lead worship in the far northeast. It was on this adventure that Lucas met and fell in love with his wife, Jody, who was herself on a mission trip from the USA. Lucas and Jody currently reside in Asheville, NC with their two children.
Today, Lucas serves as Worship Associate at Biltmore Baptist Chruch in Asheville NC and is the Head Coach at First Generation. He continues to travel the country speaking on global justice issues and leads worship at conferences and events across the country.
