Life is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, and ALWAYS an adventure! Its crazy to think that a young man who grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney, who once said to God that “I would go anywhere in the world, serve Him anyplace, except India.” I know that sounds funny, for some reason growing up, my only reference to the country of India was my neighbors drown the road who’s house always smelled of curry and spices. I remember the odor being so pungent that it made me never want to visit the homeland of these people. Looking back, its quite amusing! That God would use this very country to radically change my life in SO many ways.

In 2001 I visited India for the second time in the far northeast in a province called Shillong. It was here that I met the woman I had been praying for so many years, my soulmate. I fell head over heels in love and we married about two years later. Today we have two wonderful children and our daughter’s middle name is “India” in honor of the country that has so impacted our lives.

So there I was, sitting on a bus which was taking my team and I to Shillong, when the Lord heard my prayer and spoke. I remember it clear as day, He said, “Lucas, if I showed you the next ten steps of your journey, you would never want to go.” I remember being utterly speechless and in awe of the moment, but resolved to simply trust Him, go where He calls and obey what He commands.

When I look back through the past 15 years since, I recognize the truth of Gods word spoken me that day. Over the coming months I will share some of these amazing stories and testimonies that God has given me on my life’s great adventure, which I know has only just begun. But I pray these stories will encourage and inspire you to believe and trust God even more. Its an adventure I’m living even now as I transition to my new role over at Biltmore Baptist Church in Asheville NC. I’m so excited to be able to join a team of creative worshippers who are passionate about making His name known all around the earth!
